Apos® treatment at Miles Physio

A different approach
starts with
how you walk.

When joint pain changes the way you move, everyday activities can start to feel harder.

Apos combines individually adjusted footwear with a personalised treatment programme, designed to help reduce pain and improve walking. At Miles Physio, we’ll help you understand whether it could be a suitable next step.

AposPersonalised to your every stepApos footwear with two adjustable pods beneath the sole
Two adjustable pods.
A fit that’s individual to you.

More than footwear.
A programme
built around you.

Apos is a foot-worn medical device that looks similar to a trainer, with two adjustable pods underneath each shoe.

A trained clinician carefully positions these pods to change how forces travel through your joints as you walk. Your devices are fitted to you, with a programme shaped around your symptoms, movement and goals.

Small adjustments.
A different way to move.

01

Change how your
joints are loaded

The position of the pods changes where pressure passes through your feet, helping shift load away from painful areas.

02

Help retrain
your movement

The curved pods introduce small, controlled changes to your balance as you walk. These are designed to encourage adjustments in muscle control and walking patterns.

03

Build treatment
into your routine

You’ll receive guidance on when and how long to wear your devices. Your wearing schedule is introduced gradually and reviewed as you progress.

Finding the right fit

Could Apos be
right for you?

Let’s discuss your options

Apos may be worth discussing if persistent knee, hip or lower-back pain is affecting how you walk or what you feel able to do.

An assessment helps establish whether the treatment is appropriate for your condition and whether you can use the devices safely. Your medical history, walking pattern and balance all matter.

Your assessment matters.

Apos is not suitable for everyone. Tell us about any unexplained falls, significant balance difficulties or walking aids you use, so we can advise you appropriately.

A clear plan,
with support
along the way.

01Start with a conversation

Tell us what’s troubling you, what you’ve already tried and what you would like to feel able to do again. A free discovery call gives you space to ask questions before arranging an assessment.

02Understand your movement

We’ll discuss your symptoms and assess how you walk. This helps us understand your starting point and explain the treatment options.

03Find your individual fit

If Apos is suitable, your devices will be adjusted to your needs. You’ll receive clear instructions for using them and incorporating treatment into your routine.

04Review and adapt

Follow-up appointments give us time to discuss changes, review your walking and adjust your devices and programme where needed.

Read the NICE guidance

Apos has been studied for knee osteoarthritis.

NICE recommends it as an option for certain adults whose non-surgical care has not worked well enough, who meet the referral criteria for knee replacement but do not want surgery, with long-term outcome data collected.

That recommendation applies to a defined group of patients. We’ll discuss how the evidence relates to your circumstances and what you can reasonably expect from treatment.

This is one of those examples of things that you have to try to believe. Both my father and I have used these. I had a huge knee trauma at 16. My knee was getting worse and worse. I'd had 5 operations on it. The surgeon said I had 10 years left with the knee when I was 38. Dad saw Apostherapy and we went. It took time but things got better and better. After 7 months I was playing squash again. After 12 months I went skiing. I had done either of those things since my 20's. It is wierd looking but it works. It's genius.

Having played a lot of hockey for many years I was in a lot of pain with both my knees. Couple this with an occupation that involved a large amount of kneeling and my knees were very swollen and painful. Having worn the boots for over a year now, I feel completely different. I have much less pain and no swelling. I have even just started Couch to 5k.

This note could not be big enough for the thanks I have for my AposTherapy boots and the people I have seen, in the last 3 years, checking my pain levels, stiffness, adjusting my boots and advice on how to help me live a pain-free knee and hip life. Now I do, I am back walking, aqua classes and enjoying everyday things that make life worthwhile again, Thank you, thank you, thank you, love Patricia Young xx

Treatment really does help relieve my knee joint problem. I am coming to the end of my 3 year programme and am still more mobile now than when the treatment commenced.

Will my insurance cover treatment?

Some insurers cover Apos. Check your policy and obtain authorisation before treatment; we can help with questions about the process.
